The major difference between Strategy Event and Discovery Event is in the organization of the sales process and outcome of the call.
Strategy Events
These event types are for Closers, who work on closing deals with qualified leads.
They include Sale or No Sale outcome, with addition to add deal details if a call has been tagged as Sale.
Discovery Events
Are primarily for Setters, who are doing preliminary lead screening, helping Sales team gets the best of the best of qualified leads, which saves time (and money with it as well), by helping Closers focus and have calls with warm and hot leads only.
Outcome for this event is different than for the Strategy calls, providing Approved or Rejected. With Approved outcome, Setter can book a new strategy call on behalf of the lead immediately after adding it.

Strategy Events
Track the performance of your closers.
Strategy Events are used for calls in which you want your sales team to close a deal.
They can add an outcome as SALE or NO SALE which will affect and give you insights on your closing rate, engagement rate, revenue etc.
Strategy events provide additional options, such as Conditional Routing.
They are marked with a blue icon on your Events Page and inside event creation page.
Discovery Events
Track the performance of your setters:
Discovery Events are used for calls in which you want your setters to find out if the prospect is the right fit for a closing call or not. This will save your closers time and these types of events are usually of shorter durations.
They can add an outcome as Approved or Rejected. In case of Approved will be able to book a Strategy call, which will streamline the process and ensure closing call happens while the lead is hot.
Discovery events are marked with a purple icon on your Events Page and inside event creation page.
