How to prevent spam or fake bookings on my scheduler?

Learn how iClosed protects your booking pages from spam attacks

Updated over a month ago

Whenever you have an open form, there's always a possibility to have bots scraping booking slots and filling information automatically.

Sometimes people intentionally develop scripts that can harm companies revenue by booking all the hosts slots.

Therefore, in order to prevent that, and ensure your hosts keep their slots available for your prospects and customers, we have included a very complex mechanism to prevent any potential nefarious behavior from happening.

How does it work?

Whenever somebody land on your scheduler, no matter if it's a bot or a human,

iClosed will calculate it's spam score, according to the "Turing test", developed by Google, determining whether or not a computer is capable of thinking like a human being.

The test calculates visitors spam score based on the malware browser sessions, browser session and it's activity, spam cookies, fake mouse activity, keyboard session and activity, and other things.

If the Spam Score returns as too low, iClosed will show Google image re-captcha that a visitor needs to pass. And, if a visitor fails solving image re-captcha, we will provide new Google image re-captcha that will count as second attempt.

In case all both attempts for solving image re-captcha fail, we will block scheduling attempt and visitor will not be allowed to to continue and to schedule a call.

On top of that, we have added one more security layer which prevents bots from booking calls via our APIs (without using iClosed page).

Would such visitors be collected by the Global Data?

Yes, all such prospect will be collected and stored in Global Data.

The spam blocker can't be applied immediately while they are filling out the primary questions on your form (phone number or email and full name), because it would slow down the fill-out process and ruin the lead experience, in some cases block proper prospects. All such prospects can be deleted from Global Data, one by one, or by applying specific filters and deleting them all in-bulk.

That is the reason why such prospects will be added to Global Data as potentials, but more importantly, iClosed Spam Blocker will safe-guard your schedulers, blocking any malicious attacks from blocking your business by taking booking slots, and ensuring the booking slots stay available for true leads.
